Fun & Easy Dog Sledding Adventure

Updated Tour Information: Join the early-season Husky Ride on wheeled wagons.

Published: 15.11.2024

Our dogs are eager to run, so while we wait for the snow and colder temperatures, we're using wheeled wagons instead of sleds for our husky tours.

The husky tour (time spent on the trail) will last approximately 40-45 minutes, making it 15-20 minutes shorter than when we use sleds. This will be compensated with a complimentary warm meal upon your return to the camp.

As you will be driving the wagons and leading the husky team yourself; Be advised that this is a physically demanding activity, comparable to riding a bicycle, so a moderately decent physical shape and ability to balance is required.

Later this year, once the snow settles permanently, we'll begin using sleds again.

_____________

To drive your own team of huskies is an experience out of the ordinary and a must-do for anyone visiting Northern Norway.

This tour departs from the city center of Tromsø from where you will head out on a scenic 50-minute bus transfer to our camp in Breivikeidet.

Upon arrival at our camp in Breivikeidet, situated in a picturesque valley close to the sea, you will be welcomed by our friendly staff. We will provide you with polar insulated suits, boots, hats and mittens before heading out on our husky adventure. Your guide will go through the safety instructions and show you the basics of driving the sled/wagon.

After listening carefully to the demonstration and a few minutes of practice, you will enjoy driving on the open fields and inside the forest trails.

Two people will share one sled/wagon: one as a driver and the other one as a passenger, and you will get the chance to swap places halfway through the tour. This will provide everyone with the opportunity to experience the life of a dog musher and to take all the photographs they want while being a passenger.

After your husky ride and arriving back at the camp, you are invited into our lavvo (a traditional sami tent), where you can enjoy a hot drink and warm meal/cake around the campfire. Once you changed back to your normal clothes, and waved one last goodbye to the huskies, it is time to board back the bus to Tromsø.
