Celebrated by Lonely Planet as “Europe’s most scenic train journey in 2012 and 2022”, the Golden Train Roundtrip covers some of Norway's most stunning landscapes.

Leaving from the city center, the train will take you on a breathtaking journey into Romsdalen county, following the emerald-green Rauma river, passing highlights such as the Troll Wall mountain range, the Kylling Bridge and Verma waterfall.

Delve into the historical events of World War II and the origins of “the Golden Train” along the way. The leisurely pace of the train allows you the opportunity to capture photographs of the amazing scenery.

Along the way, the train will take a short photo-stop at Bjorli station, where you can disembark and soak in the serene beauty of the surrounding nature before taking the journey back to Åndalsnes.

Upon arrival back, stroll across the street from the train station to the Romsdalsgondolen fjord station and take the spectacular 7-minute cable car ride up to Nesaksla mountain, 708 meters above sea level.

At the summit, visit Eggen Restaurant for a delicious 2-course lunch made from local ingredients. Enjoy traditional Norwegian cuisine with a modern twist in a relaxed atmosphere against the stunning backdrop of Romsdalen's mountains. You can travel down again with the cable car at any time during our opening hours.

Good to know: Lunch is served at 13:30 at Eggen Restaurant. You can take the gondola down at any time you want.
