Our Alaskan huskies are the playful and hardworking heroes of one of the most beloved winter activities at Kirkenes Snowhotel: dog sledding. Huskies love to run, and they need to run to keep calm, happy, and healthy. If it were up to a husky, it would run all day long.
Huskies were bred to thrive in cold temperatures. With their warm and fluffy fur, they really don’t like temperatures exceeding 12°C or 53.6°F. Luckily, at 70 degrees North, the summers in Kirkenes are cool with gentle breezes and not too bright sun.
Your adventure begins when our knowledgeable guide collects you from your hotel and whisks you away to the Snowhotel camp. Upon arrival, you'll be introduced to your own pack of huskies and paired with an experienced musher who will guide you on an unforgettable journey along the picturesque fjord.
You'll be placed in a cozy husky wagon, driven by our skilled musher, traversing the stunning landscape, pausing to admire the breathtaking scenery, and ensuring our furry friends are hydrated and content. And fear not, amidst the adventure, there will be ample opportunities for those cherished cuddles with our lovable huskies. After an hour of exhilarating exploration, our driver will escort you back to Kirkenes, leaving you with cherished memories and stories to share.
Or, while you're here, why not visit the only all-year-open snow hotel in the world? Marvel at the ice art, enjoy dinner at our restaurant, or spend the night in a Gamme cabin. We wish you a joyful experience in our Arctic wonderland - also during summer!
